Goodreads Synopsis
Willow Arden adores her life as the coronation planner in the Vicenza palace. The tiny island kingdom is the perfect place to raise her baby daughter. But when Emory, the sexy heir to the throne and her almost lover, comes home after a year-long hiatus, her perfect life is shaken to its core. Emory’s spent his whole life putting Vicenza’s interests over his own. After taking a year off to live the kind of life he always wanted, he’s returned and he’s committed to the throne. But when Willow and Emory meet again, the attraction between them ignites, as white-hot and hopeless as ever. Emory can’t betray his commitments, and Willow must protect her heart at all costs. One way or another, one of them will lose everything.
Review Who doesn't enjoy some royal romance during Christmas?? The basic plot is the same as many other books: a royal and a commoner who works at the palace are attracted to each other, but know it can never be due to their difference in status, and yet they can't seem to help themselves. Add an adorable toddler and some mental shields and you have quite a good book! I like that the female lead, Willow, is both strong and vulnerable. She's been hurt before, but she also got her beloved daughter in the process and wouldn't change that for anything, no matter how hard life has been. Being attracted to the next king is not in her plans, nor is it likely to lead anywhere, but as she gets to know him it becomes harder to stay away. Emory, the male lead, is harder to get a read on at first. He is unsure if he wants the crown and leaves for a year to "go find himself" and decide if he'll be the next king. During this trip he finds clarity and return determined to fulfill his duty in order to protect his little brother and please his mother. But the attraction he felt toward Willow before he left is still there and he wants to explore it, even though he knows he can't offer her anything permanent. As you've probably guessed, it will be a happy ending (with both romance AND Christmas it is practically illegal to not have it end in a happy way), but just how they manage that you'll have to read for yourself! If you have a day of bad weather during Christmas or New Years, reading this book would be a great way to make time pass.
